Step 1

Valuation checklist

Free

Sitting together, you'll answer a series of questions online to identify your property pool - your assets, liabilities and superannuation. When you begin the online interview you'll receive a confirmation email from Automio, the interview-hosting platform, that you have started.

After you complete the interview, Automio will email you a bespoke checklist with guidance on how to value your property pool.

Please read the Q&A for this step before proceeding.

Step 2

Property divider

$110

Free user guide

Type your valuations from Step 1 into our proprietary calculator and allocate ownership between you both.

Once you've agreed a fair property division (e.g. 60/40 or 30/70), the divider will help you choose who gets what.

When you purchase the property divider you'll receive a confirmation email from Automio, the interview-hosting platform.

Negotiating your property division without lawyers may save you more than $2,000 depending on your ability to compromise.

Please read the Q&A for this step before proceeding.

Consent orders

Free user guide

Sitting together again, answer another series of questions online to draft financial consent orders to formalise your agreed property pool division. When you begin the online interview you'll receive a confirmation email from Automio, the interview-hosting platform, that you have started.

After you complete the interview, Automio will email you bespoke consent orders reflecting how you would like your property pool to be divided.

Drafting your own orders without using a family lawyer may save you more than $3,000 depending on the types of orders you require.

Please read the Q&A for this step before proceeding.

Step 4

Orders application

Court fees only ($170)

Download the Family Court's Applications for Consent Orders Kit and complete it as agreed in Step 3.

Then apply for consent orders through the Commonwealth Courts Portal as explained in this video.

You may ask a lawyer to check the consent orders before filing. This will still cost a fraction of the professional fees involved in having a lawyer draft the orders from scratch.

Please visit www.familycourt.gov.au if you have any questions about this process.

Please read the Q&A for this step before proceeding.

After you complete the interview, Automio will email you an editable parenting plan reflecting the arrangements you have agreed. After you sign it, apply for child support online here.

Preparing a plan without lawyers may save you more than $3,000 depending on the complexity of the arrangements.
